Squirrels make nests in holes in trees or on branches. They spend much time on the ground, foraging for fruit, nuts, and insects. They also sometimes eat eggs, young birds, and smaller mammals. Members of many species store food for the winter in holes or buried in the ground. They locate these foods by means of smell. They do not hibernate.
During hunting season white tailed deer sense humans in the forest during the day. Because of this they hide all day and do their daily routines at night. Basically becoming nocturnal! They also give out warning snorts to deer nearby that trouble is around.
When coyotes hears or sees something they run around to get down wind of it instead of running strait towards it. They are strong in communication with other coyotes.
