Primary Succession occurs in a lifeless area. Where the soil is incapable of sustaining life. A place where hardening lava flows, sand dunes form, and bare rock left from glaciers are all examples of primary succession.
The 2 types of succession
Primary
Secondary
Secondary succession occurs in an area where a community that has previously existed is removed. It is a smaller scale of disturbance so life can come back on its own. Soil left on the ground.
