~ In each village there was a headman or council that made mostly all the decisions.
~ In early times woman were aloud to run for council but that changed.

~The Caste System influenced life in the Gupta Empire.
~The Caste rules and traditions created a stable society.
~The village was the center of life. The fields where they grew crops surrounded the village.
~Children worked in the fields.
~Parents arranged children's marriages.
