Reading Survey

I used the Jim Burke reading survey along with my own questions to assess Eleanor's interests. I wanted to figure out what kind of books she was interested in so that I could acquire a variety for her to choose from. Student choice is important and ensuring students have access to interesting texts is an influential factor in student reading growth (Allington, pg. 73)

My first step was to interview Eleanor, a 3rd grader at Ventura Park Elementary School. I wanted to get a sense of her interests and reading strategies.
