Erie Canal- In October, 1825, Erie Canal was completed from Lake Erie to New York City, linking the Atlantic and trans-Atlantic marketplaces with growing agricultural production in the Northwest states. (Pic 1)

Ports closed to British- Adams proclaims all American ports closed to trade with Britain colonies. This suspended disagreements from an era of protracted contention with the British over tariffs.

Mexican boundary settlement- Joel Poinsett accedes to a Mexican boundary settlement on behalf of the United States.

Unpopular- Adams was very unpopular due to the election scandal. He didn't accomplish much and he was known as an independent, old-school, and high class man. He didn't gain any support from people or the government.
