Steps:

1. Section out hair with 6 basic sections and complete either a one length or graduated technique throughout head.

2. Cut front and side perimeter using graduated or one angle technique.

3. Cut interior guide. Create an ear-to-ear parting to divide the front from the back: Part the hair from the front of the right ear across the top of the head to the front of the left ear.

4. At the top of the head, create a 1" vertical subsection from the front hairline to the ear-to-ear parting. Take 1/2" from each side of the middle.

5. Stand in the clients right and hold subsection at 90 degrees.

6. Drop all but a little of safety section, this is your guide. Cut your 1" subsection with backward flowing angle (at 90 degrees).

7.

Steps (cont):

7. Begin layering the front by standing on the client’s left. You will be layering the hair on the right, and keeping the guide closest to you.

8. Pick up the rectangular section that you just cut, and holdit at 90° from the center top.

9. Use the comb to bring up a 1" subsection without changing the elevation of the original guide.

10. Cut the subsection to the length of the guide, following the angle of the guide.

11. Continue bringing up subsections in front of the ear-to-ear parting to the guide until no more hair on the right side reaches the guide. Make sure that the guide is

always at 90° to the center of the head.

12. Stand on the client’s right and repeat for the left side.

Steps (cont):

13. Finish by layering the back.Keep the ear-to-ear part in place.

14. Continue the rectangular subsection into the back.

15. Section out some of the guide hair from in front of the ear-to-ear parting to use as a guide in the back.

16. Comb up the rectangular subsection into 90° from the top of the head.

17. Cut a backward flowing angle from the guide. The cut rectangular subsection will act as the guide for layering the back.

18. Standing on the side with the guide, continue bringing up rectangles of hair and cutting to the guide.

19. Always standing on the guide side, layer the rest of the back section.
