• Plants use a process called photosynthesis to create food. They use sunlight, water, and a gas called carbon dioxide for this.
•Plants use a material called chlorophyll to take in sunlight so they can produce sugar for energy. The chlorophyll also gives plants their green color.
•Plants use their roots to take in water from the soil. It can be harder for other plants because it might take a long time for it to travel through a bigger plant.
•Plants use carbon dioxide to create sugar. They get the carbon dioxide through little holes under the plant called stomata.
•Since animals can't create their own food they must eat other plants and animals. This proves that animals need photosynthesis because if plants didn't have photosynthesis they couldn't create energy for animals.
