1) The Integumentary System: involves the skin, nails and hair.
-forms the external body covering
-protects deeper tissue from injury
-synthesizes vitamin D
-the site of cutaneous (pain) receptor
-sweat and oil glands


2) The Skeletal System: involves the bones and joints.
-protects and supports body organs
-provides a framework for muscles to cause movement
-blood cells are formed within bones to store minerals

3) The Muscular System: involves the skeletal muscles.
-allows manipulation of the enivornment, locomotion and facial expressions
-maintains posture and produces heat


4) The Nervous System: involves the brain, sensory receptor, spinal cord and nerves.
-a fast-acting control system of the body that responds to the internal and external changes by activating appropriate muscles and glands

5) The Endocrine System: involves the thyroid gland, thymus, adrenal gland, pancreas, ovaries, testes, pineal gland and pituitary gland.
-glands secrete hormones that regulate processes such as growth, reproduction and nutrient use (metabolism) by body cells

6) The Cardiovascular System: involves the blood vessels and heart.
-blood vessels transport blood, which carries oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, waste, etc.
-the heart pumps the blood throughout the body
