Potential Energy- is stored energy and inactive but has the potential to do work.

Chemical Energy- a form of energy stored in the bonds of chemical substances.

Electrical Energy- results from movement of charged particles.

Mechanical Energy- energy directly involved in moving matter.

Radiant Energy (or electromagnetic energy)- energy that travels in waves.

12-13) The Major Types of Energy and Chemical Elements

All matter is composed of elements, unique substances that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by ordinary chemical methods. Elements are composed of identical particles called atoms (the number of atoms in each element differs). There are 112 elements (number 114 and 116 are alleged) and 92 of these elements occur in nature. The rest are made artificially.
