The Second Great Awakening
The Second Great Awakening was a religious movement that took place in the 1790s. Participants in this movement rejected the Calvinistic beliefs of the 18th-century that said God predetermined whether a person went to Heaven or Hell. Revival meetings were very common during this time and could go on for multiple days. Revival meetings were emotional meetings including preaching and prayers to awaken the religious faith.
