We are amazingly designed. Hormones are chemicals released by a cell or gland in one part of the body that communicates and sends messages to other parts of our bodies. Our cells were designed to respond to the message when they have a "matching" receptor for that specific hormone. Then the hormone binds to the receptor resulting in the activation of cell responses.
The whole process is absolutely mind blowing.
