Life under Savery- Urban and Rural Slavery
Rural Slavery:
Men women and children worked on plantations from dawn to dusk. They would get whipped while working.
Urban Slavery:
The demand for slavery in the mills and on ships was rising. Slaves were in demand in the Southern cities. Enslaved blacks could hire themselves out as artisans. Women children and men worked the same job. Slaves in the city felt they had more freedom.
