Jainism
In 500 BCE, Mahvira, a religious teacher, left the Hindi religion and founded a new set of beliefs that became known as Jainism.
Jainism rejects the beliefs that only Brahmin priests could perform rituals, and it focuses on the concern for the welfare of every being and the health of the universe.
Within the religion, there are several key beliefs that separate it from its ancestor, Hinduism, and define its values.
1. All living things contain a soul and are considered of equal value
2. The supreme belief is to lead a non-violent life
3. There are three basic principles: right belief, right knowledge, and right conduct
4. There are no priests, only monks and nuns
5. People must follow the holy text known as the Agmas
