Kenneth Anger: Scorpio Rising 1964 28 minutes (excerpt 4.13)

Along with Maya Deren, Stan Brakage, Stan Venderbeek, Jonas Mekas and a few others, Anger was a core member of the counter-culture film-makers of the mid 20th century - with interests in non-camera film-making, documenting the alternative lifestyles outside the conformist mainstream WASP culture that by the 1960s was dominated by a rigid conservatism, anti-communist, racist culture deeply invested in the military-industrial complex and the resulting Cold War with the USSR. These movies from a homosexual hipster like Anger, celebrating the lifestyle of an extreme fringe bikers culture that emerged from WW2 in California, caused a sensation. Hunter S. Thompson made his embedded journalism book on the Angels a year later.
