Ralph Steiner: Mechanical Principles 1933 10.35
Steiner was a left-winger and founder member of NYKINO, a New York film-making collective related to the Workers Film and Photo League. Steiner made these ‘tone-poems’ in the 1930s - in the worldwide Depression that followed the Stock Market crash of 1929. In the USA, Franklyn Roosevelt had created the ‘New Deal’ to help trigger economic recovery.
