Jeff Keen: Instant Cinema 1962 (extract 1.06)

The counter-culture/experimentalist avant garde was at work in the UK too. In 1960 the sculptor/printmaker Eduardo Paolozzi made A History of Nothing, and later in the 1960s Bruce Lacey and Mark Boyle made projection-happenings at UFO (1966) and the 14-Hour Technicolor Dream (1968). Keens work is recognised by the BFI as a core component of experimentalist film . He films his painting/collage process, draws directly on film, incorporates custom-made and found footage (etc).
