Red Raspberry - an infusion (the water that the raspberry root was boiled in then cooled) was used as an eye wash
Sunflower - A poultice of the crushed roots for bruises and wounds.
A small sample of herbal remedies from various Native communities:
Cattail - Roots were crushed and put on burns and wounds.
Pine or Hemlock tree bark was used to make a tea that was full of vitamin C and helped cure or prevent Scurvy. Ojibwe people would use Labrador tea (a low evergreen shrub) for the same purpose.
Scurvy:
A disease caused by lack of vitamin C. Symptoms include loose teeth & bleeding under skin
