This game was invented separately but is similar to the Deer Toe Bone game. The Cup and ball game was historically popular in France as early as the sixteenth century. It generally had a wooden handle, to which a small ball is attached by a string. The object is to land the ball upon the cup to score. A similar game was played throughout history in England, Germany, Japan and many Spanish speaking countries. The object of the game is to see how many times you can catch the ball in the cup.
