DIRECTIONAL TERMS
REGIONAL TERMS:
Allow us to explain where in body structure is in relation to another. Instead of describing the relationship between the ears informally by saying, "the ears are located on each side if the head to the right or left of the nose, using anatomical terminology, this condenses to, "the ears are lateral to the nose".
Are used to designate specific areas within the major body divisions. The common term for each of these body regions is also provided
(in parentheses).
BODY PLANES AND SECTIONS:
For anatomical studies, the body is often sectioned along flat surface called a plane. The most frequently used body planes are sagittal(vertical lane that divides body into right&left parts),frontal(vertical planes that divid body into anterior and posterior parts),and transverse planes(runs horizontally, dividing the body into superior and inferior parts).
