This long story of poems is one of the greatest Indian literature ever written. It is a mix of many tales of faith, belief, honor, and what war can put you through. Mahabharata tells even of history in the Aryan time. These groups of chapters tell of what the four passions to reach as part of society, and the journey of two princes. It was originally written in Sanskrit, and ancient language used by the Aryans. Although the author is thought to be Vyasa, no one knows for sure. One of the stories, Bhagavad-Gita, tells of how important it is to follow you beliefs and cherish your soul. It is a lengthy poem, and probably was written around 400 BC when priests began to write down literature.

Ramayana is also one of the tales that people in Ancient Indian used to read and learn from. The book is shorter and only has 24,000 lines with 7 books. It tells more of inner values and decisions to make in your life, instead of war and gods. Connections in the people that surround you are also touched on by showing how you can have the perfect family. Ramayana showed people that dharma is very important and you duties should be followed.
