Maurya Empire
The Maurya Dynasty lasted from 322 to 185 BCE. It conquered most most in northwestern India around the area of the Deccan Plateau. This empire had very good rulers and they shaped the ways of of India. The Ganges River flows through the empire and is considered sacred. The main system of government was the use of local leaders instead of powerful overlords. Asoka the great changed the Mauryan dynasty towards the end of his reign. Buddhism changed Indian culture, even though it faded eventually into China. Asoka made great advances in architecture through the Maurya dynasty. He built pillars that were 8 feet tall and had guidelines and stories on them.
The downfall of the Mauryan dynasty is tale to many things. The White Huns were thought to have come and taken over. Also, after Asoka died the empire life just decreased. The Mauryan dynasty is one of my favorite dynasties to learn about because of the great central leaders.
