Rural Slavery: Women, men, and some children worked in the fields for long periods of time. Most slaves lived on plantations or large farms and worked with many other slaves. They would do hard laboring to please their owner. Or other slaves lived and worked in the cities.
Urban Slavery: In the 1830s their was a shortage on slaves because many whites became invested in farming which decreased the amount of slaves. A demand for more slaves arose and many women and children were enslaved to work in the industries.
