Many soldiers died during the civil war. Sme ways they died were they obviously shot by the enemy. They also died by starvation because food was scarce during the war. They also didn't have many doctors so when they got wounded pretty bad the doctors wouldn't be able to heal everybody in time because a lot of patients came in at a time with only little amounts of nurses and a doctor. They shots wouldn't be healed and infection or disease would spread and they eventually died. Infection, bullet/ sword wounds, and star ovation were a few ways soldiers died during the civil war.

Families had a hard time dealing with the thought that their loved on was lost. If the soldier had children at home it would be harder. But if the soldier did die, they would allow the civilians to go on the battlefield and get the dead loved one and prepare a proper burial for them. Others would weep and mourn for endless days and some would even starve because the pain was too much for them. I don't know if some people commit suicide because their loved one was lost but I'm guessing some crazy people did.

Mourning changed during the war because people's attitudes and the way they thought about death changed. When they saw that many bodies were being thrown away because of the war that made them realize later and they had consequences. Because of the war, death was just a simple word to them but then after the many deaths of soldiers they had a different perspective towards death.
