1939-1954 summaries

Even in the army, black people were being discriminated. Many of the soldiers experienced a lot of struggles in the army especially the blacks because they weren't being treated equally as the whites. Jackie Robinson made a breakthrough when he was the first black to play for the a Brooklyn Dodgers. All blacks were happy at this change but most white rejected and hated it. There weren't many open jobs for black people and if there was, it would be a low job. It was said no matter how skilled blacks were, they weren't going to hire them. Blacks wanted to March out in front of the a White House until the president allowed them to have jobs. They weren't going to allow discrimination in the childrens' school because it broke the 14th amendment. The children knowing about racism and the fights going on at a young age affected their learning.
