After a lot of crap happening to the South, there was a little piece of hope, finally. America declared war on Spain and black people fought for their country and they kept fighting strong. Broker T. Washington was very stressed because of the racial conflict going on. While Booker speaks his speech, if he made one mistake then he could put the cause of his fight into jeapordy. The elections for Mississippi was always violent because white people didn't want black people to vote at all. Many blacks refused this threat and many got murdered and they had to stop this fight so they made a compromise. Whites were really scary and threatening the blacks not to interfere with them or else. The Blues were believed to be invented before the 1900's and the deep meaning of the Blues came from different places. Blues were sometimes sad and expressed how unfairly treated blacks felt. Blues were basically "black" music and they were spiritual and some were secular.
