Life under slavery-urban and Rural slavery
Rural slavery: large plantations containing men, women, and children who worked hard everyday on the fields. The slave owner made them work harder than ever. The labor was never ending
Urban slavery: Southern whites had gone into farming due to the cotton wealth. But in result of that came demand in slaves to work mills and on ships. Slaves who are skilled in plantations were now required to go and work in southern cities. Enslaved blacks were eligible to hire themselves as artisans in the southern cities. Women men and children typically all worked the same job.
