Major leaders in education reform/their accomplishments
Horace Mann was a remarkable leader in the public school reform movement. He worked at poor schools to help out. In 1837 he became the first secretary of Massachusetts Board of Education and had 12 years of service. Established teacher-training programs and institutes curriculum reforms, and doubled the money that the state spent on schools.
