Pro-slavery arguments

Some people defended slavery referring to the bible. South slave owners argued which benefited the blacks by making them apart of a prosperous and Christian civilization. Slave owners then created a myth of the happy slave, a cherished addition to plantation family. Which would be a slave that earns a wage of working for Pennies in dark airless factories. However Abolitionist still continued the campaign for emancipation.Southern representatives created the Gag Rule. Which was a rule limiting or preventing debate of the issue, which basically means that citizens submitting petitions were deprived of their right to have them heard. The rule was then repealed in 1844. But the abolitionists fight became to turn into violence in the 1850s.
