Emma Willard
In 1821, Emma opened one of the nation's first academically intense school for girls. The school was in Troy, New York. The Troy Female Seminary school became a model for a new type of women's school. Emma Willard's school was made fun if but in the end, it was successful and prospered.
Mary Lyon
In 1837, came over a lot of resistance and and created another institution for higher learning for women. Se founded Mount Holyoke Seminary in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Her schooling inspired Ohio's Oberlin College to accept women into their degree program. Oberlin College became the first coeducational college.
