Isabella Baumfree was a slave for the first 30 years of her life. She changed her name to Sejourner Truth. She traveled or sojourned to many parts of the country preaching and arguing for abolition. She was extremely disrespected at a convention in 1851, but she was so powerful that she urged men to give women their rights. She proved to everyone that women were hard working.
