Slaves worked on large plantations from morning until night. The were whipped if they did not work fast enough. By 1850 most slaves lived on farms or plantations.

As cotton became a huge product they needed slaves in mills and on ships. Many women and children did that same jobs as men. Slave own spears did not watch their slaves work
