Guidelines

Correct serving proportions are vital to your success with the

Liver Shrinking Diet. Use measuring cups to accurately proportion your serving sizes and weigh your meat and eggs with a food scale. The food scale needs to be able to weigh in ounces and/or grams. Keep your measuring cups and food scale on hand because they will be useful to you after your bariatric surgery.


Chewable multivitamins and calcium supplements will need to be taken everyday of the fourteen days you are on the liver shrinking diet. You should purchase a multivitamin that meets 100% of RDAs and the calcium supplement should have 1000-1200mg of calcium and at least 600 IU of vitamin D.


Carbonated drinks need to be eliminated completely from your diet. Caffiene, caffeine free, and sugar free carbonated beverages will also need to be eliminated.

Hydration is important to maintain while on the Liver Shrinking Diet and should continue after your procedure. Drink 120 ounces of water or non calorie beverages every day. Beverages must be less than 15 calories per serving.


Beverages Allowed:

Water

Crystal light

Coffee

Diet tea

Diet flavored water

Diet sports drink

1% or fat free milk


Beverages NOT Allowed:

Diet sodas

Beer

Fruit juice

2% or whole milk

Anything carbonated


You need to begin eating your meals without drinking anything known as
dry meals. Do NOT drink anything 15-30 minutes prior to eating and 45 minutes after you eat.

Expected weight loss is between 10 and 15 pounds. This diet is a medical diet and designed for you to strictly follow for two weeks under the supervision of a physician.
