The results of the Missouri Compromise were that Maine was a free state and Missouri was a slave state. They also decided on a line marking the separation between the slave states and the free states at 36 degrees and 30 minutes.

The north and south had the same reaction of satisfaction with the results of the compromise though the comprimise did cause tension between them causing the rivalry to rise which in turn helped cause the civil war
