Kansas-Nebraska Act

Dred Scott's case caused
the north to realize that the
government didn't consider
the African Americans as slaves
and they would continue
to do this unless it is fought
for so it increased the north's determination to help free the slaves from the clutches of their masters. The abolitionists had a big reason to fight and the case caused talk increasing the amount of people who wished to help the saves. This is the reason to have it as number 4.

John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry

The raid on Harper's Ferry was a very important event that opened up the north's eyes as to how worthy of a cause abolitionism was because a human being was putting his life on the line in order to help free these people. This is why it is second.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act increased the anger of both the north and south towards each other because they weer now in a race to see who could settle these areas first in order to gain the upper hand in not only the fact that the territories would be either slave or free states but also representation. This mad dash eventually broke out into fights which is the reason this event is number five.

"Bleeding Kansas"

The battles fought during this time helped to cause the Civil War by increasing the animosity the abolitionists and the slavery supporters had towards each other and some could argue that these fights were the beginning of the war because they were fought by the two opposing sides which is why it is third.
