"Bleeding Kansas"

"Bleeding Kansas" was an event where both the supporters of slavery and abolitionist fought over the topic of slavery. Kansas had been, at the time, a territory that was to be chosen wether it was a slave territory or a free one by popular sovereignty. This meant the people that owned land in the area were able to vote on the decision. Because of this many were fighting. An example of people fighting were the border ruffians coming from Missouri in order to fight the anti-slavery supporters.
"Bleeding Kansas" was when fighting occurred which showed the animosity between the north and the south. This animosity will increase due to the fighting resulting in a much bigger fight, a war, the Civil War.
