The Compromise of 1850

The Comprimise of 1850 resulted in Texas becoming a slave state and California becoming a free state. It also implemented no slave trade in Washington D.C. and the fugitive slave act which stated that it was a federal crime to help slave escape to the north. Also the Compromise of 1850 began popular sovereignty which meant that those states were to be chosen wether they were free or a slave state by the residents votes.
The Compromise of 1850 resulted in anger in both the south and north because they disagreed with some portion of the compromise and also caused tension that eventually breaks out in fights in the area where popular sovereignty was implemented.
