Kansas-Nebraska Act

The Kansas-Nebraska act made the territories, both Nebraska and Kansas, open to slavery due to popular sovereignty.
The Kansas-Nebraska act increased the tension between the north and the south because they now had the option to vote on wether the state would be a slave state or a free state and this caused all supporters to gather in the area. Now these territories had high tension and eventually the tensions rise so much they begin to fight.
