Publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin

Uncle Tom's Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe and published in 1851. This book is about life in the south in the perspective of a slave family.

Stowe is able to write a story in way that makes people feel for the family, get attached, and to have all these harsh things happen to them made many people realize how slavery is in the south and begin to join the abolitionism movement. The book sparks talk about slavery ultimately increasing the already high tensions between the north and south.
