Men
In Ancient Greece only men could be full citizens, make all the important decisions, take part in sports, meet in public and fight in armies.
Women
Spartan women were taught to read and write to protect them from battle. They also looked after the house and made clothes. Athen women were taught to run a home and were expected to have children, make clothes and look after the house.
Slaves
Only in poor homes women were expected to carry out all the duties alone. Most homes had female slaves to do the jobs for Greek people. Male salves protected homes and tutored male children.
