There were two types of wrestling:
•Orthia pale (standing up and proper wrestling), defeat occurred when they admitted defeat or opponent was thrown to the floor three times. The winner was called 'triakter'.
• Kato pale (ground wrestling), defeat occurred when right index finger was raised. The rules are no blows, no tripping, no biting or gouging.
Wrestling
Wrestling took place at a place called a 'keroma', it was made out of beeswax, mud.
In Ancient Greek Olympics to be a good wrestler you had to be strong, and stout.
There was no time limits.
For a fair fall you would have to throw them to the ground and and land on their hip, back, shoulder.
Wrestling was a event in the penthalon.
