Stress Relieving Ritual
The Stress Relieving Scalp and Shoulders Ritual is performed to help reduce stress and promote balance and relaxation through aroma, breathe and touch. Because this ritual stimulates the scalp, do not perform it before a chemical hair service.
Drape the guest with a wet drape and follow this procedure with shampoo and condition of the hair at the shampoo bowl.
Step One: Take your guest through a chakra sensory journey. Ask your guest to close their eyes and then to tell you which aroma they prefer by saying "today" or "not today". Put each aroma under their nose one at a time.
Step Two: Use a dropper to apply the aroma to the scalp. Begin at the crown and work your way to the front hair line while rubbing the aroma in with your thumb. Repeat this procedure working from the crown to the nape and then from the crown down both sides of the head. Rub the head from front to back.
Step Three: Perform the butterfly movement. Slide hands down the spine then back up to the shoulders and down the arms. Perform each massage three times.
Step Four: Perform the shoulder shrug movement. Massage the shoulders and neck using a kneading motion.
Step Five: Perform the piano movement. Use your fingers as though you are playing a piano and massage from the neck out to the shoulders and back.
Step Six: Begin the neck movements. Press with your thumb on the pressure points at the base of the hairline. Rotate the fingers, lifting up and outward. Hold and apply pressure for a count of three. Press and massage the occipital bone.
Step Seven: Move to the scalp massage. Place hands on the side of the head. Press thumbs along the top center of the head. Start in front and move your thumbs in an S movement to the back and sides of the head.
Step Eight: Massage the temples. Place your middle fingers on the guests head holding the temples. Press down and massage with light pressure.
Step Nine: Scissor the ears. Place each ear between your middle and ring fingers. pally pressure and slide up and down the ear. Massage the lobes.
Step Ten through Twelve: Repeat shoulder massage, piano movement, and butterfly movement.
Step Thirteen: Close the massage. Place hands on the back and move them in circular motions. Use a sweeping motion to flick your hands off the guests shoulders.
