Graduated Technique

You will start with a wet drape to shampoo and condition the hair and then put the guest in a dry drape. You will need cutting shears, duck bill clips, and a comb.

Step One: Section the hair into six basic sections. Starting with sections one and two establish a guide piece of hair no bigger than one inch and cut off the decided length, elevation is at zero for these sections.

Step Two: Drop section three and make a subsection one inch thick. Repeat for section four making sure that the subsections are even. Place an end of a comb in the parting of the subsection your about to cut. Hold it in place with your thumb. The degree that the comb lies on is your elevation. Keeping the comb in place, cut using the established elevation.

Step Three: Drop down sections five and six and fan out the hair from the crown. With the hair fanned out, using a wide tooth comb, hold hair T to the subsection. Cut the rest of five and six to the guide, keeping the elevation.
