Long Layer Technique
Start with a wet drape, shampoo and condition, finish with a dry drape. You will need cutting shears, duck bill clips, and comb.
Step One: Create an ear to ear parting. At the top of the head, Create a one inch vertical subsection from the front of the hairline to the ear to ear parting. Take half inch from each side of the middle.
Step Two: Stand on the guests right side. Hold the subsection at ninety degrees. Drop all but a little of the safety section. What is left, is your guide. Cut the one inch rectangular subsection. Elevate the subsection to ninety degrees. Cut in a backward flowing angle.
Step Three: Now standing on the guests left side you will be layering the hair on the right, and keeping the guide closest to you. Pick up the rectangular section that you just cut, and hold it at ninety degrees from the center top. Use the comb to bring up a one inch section without changing the elevation of the original guide.
Step Four: Continue bringing up subsections in front of the ear to ear parting to the guide until no more hair on the right side reaches the guide. Stand on the clients right side and repeat for the left side.
