Chapter 19
1. Who is Atticus's only witness?
-Tom Robinson.
2. What is Tom's version of the events?
-He said that Mayella had asked him in the house before to do all sorts of odd chores. After Tom walked inside she shut him in. When he was inside on a chair trying to bust up her chiffarobe, he turned and she grabbed him by the legs. Tom jumped down in surprise and then Mayella hugged him around the waist. After that she kissed him on the face and that is when Mr. Bob Ewell saw. He came after Mayella and Tom ran away.
3. What does Link Deas say when he interrupts the testimony?
-"I just want the whole lot of you to know one thing right now. That boy's worked for me eight years an' I ain't had a speck o' trouble outa him. Not a speck."
4. What points did Mr. Gilmer make during his cross-examination of Tom?
-He wonders why he had to help Mayella with chores if he had all that work to do for himself and she had all that help for others at the farm. Mr. Gilmer also asks if he is a strong man.
5. Why does Dill begin crying?
-He doesn't like the things Mr. Gilmer is saying to Tom.
