Pro-Slavery Arguments
Slave coded were sent out in order to keep the slaves from being educated or privileged, which was said would bring out revolts. Freed slaves in some states were not allowed to read, write, work individually, testify in court, or even purchase alcohol. Whites were afraid of slave revolts in the future, as Turner's Rebellion came out states restricted the slaves even more, other than to free them and stop the revolts. The abolitionists started violent outbreaks which "would lead to a divided nation."
