Life Under Slavery- Urban and Rural Slavery
Most slaves during this time period worked on small farms and large plantations. Slaves later became skilled workers who worked in mines, blacksmithing, and carpentry. City slaves were well fed and clothed, they were almost considered as free people. City slaves were not treated as harsh as the southern slaves. The slaves always sought freedom, but it did not come to them as easily as they had hoped.
