The Second Great Awakening
The reforms started out when people were trying to fix up the broad religious movement in the U.S. after 1790. Audiences of around 20,000 were gathered by preachers who expressed the ideas of a democratic God, who is in charge of salvation after death and says that all life forms are loved by him and deserve equal treatment. The gatherings were called revivals, where people preached, prayed and listened to others to raise up their faith in God and religious beliefs.
