Life Under Slavery

Information
From 1810-1830, the number of slaves increased from 1.2 million slaves to a whopping 2.0 million of them.
Slaves started to learn how to speak English, being able to communicate with other slaves and their owners. Woman and man slaves got the same jobs, and slaves of all ages worked from sunrise to sunset.
Rural Slavery: Slaves began to work on large plantations all day long, doing things like picking cotton.
Urban Slavery: Slaves began to partake in jobs such as blacksmithing, carpentry, and other modern works of art.
