Second Great Awakening

Information

The SGA is the second religious movement that swept into the US after the 1790s. Enslaved African Americans started to follow the Christian religion.

The revival of religions and churches had many people joining into churches. In 1800 1 in 15 Americans belonged to a church, but by 1850 1 in 6 Americans were members of a church.

The Second Great Awakening was lead by Charles Grandison Finney and his contemporaries (people).
