Major AER Leaders

Information

William Lloyd Garrison and David Walker are some of the most famous anti-slavery leaders in the days of the Abolition/Emancipation Reform in the US.

William Garrison created anti-slavery groups for whites to join and help slaves become free.

David Walker wrote "Appeal to the Colored Citizens of the World," telling African Americans to fight against slavery.

Citizens began to help these leaders force emancipation, the freeing of slaves without paying the slave owners.
